Hospital and Skilled Nursing Facility COVID-19 Worker Retention Payments
1. What is the qualifying work period?
The qualifying work period is used by the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) to determine whether an eligible employee meets the definition of a part-time or full-time employee.
For the purposes of the Hospital and Skilled Nursing Facility COVID-19 Worker Retention Payment (WRP), the qualifying work period is July 30, 2022, through October 28, 2022.
2. What is the date of record?
The date that an employee must continue to be employed by a Covered Entity (CE) or Covered Services Employer (CSE) in order to be eligible for a retention payment.
DHCS established the date of record as November 28, 2022.
3. When can Covered Entities (CEs) or Covered Services Employers (CSEs) begin submitting information for eligible employees/workers and their payment amounts?
Submission can begin as soon as November 29, 2022. All requests for payment must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on January 6, 2023. DHCS encourages early submissions so all applications can be validated prior to the final due date.
4. What is the expected timeline for payments?
DHCS
anticipates issuing payments to approved CEs, CSEs, PGEs, and Independent
Physicians in March 2023. CEs, CSEs, PGEs, and Independent Physicians receiving
funding must issue payments to qualified employees within 60 days of receipt of
funds.
