Back to COVID-19 FAQs
32. What is the Medi-Nurse Line?
California has launched 24-hour advice line that can connect you with a nurse, day or night, to talk about COVID-19 symptoms and help connect you with local resources in your area.
Call the Medi-Nurse Line: (877) 409-9052
33. Who is the line for?
If you do not have health care coverage, or you have Medi-Cal but do not have a regular doctor, California's Medi-Nurse advice line can help.
34. When can I call the Medi-Nurse line?
Medi-Nurse provides services in multiple languages, with steps in place that allow callers to access interpreters, as needed. If you have a regular doctor or a health plan, call them first. If you don't, the Medi-Nurse line can help!
- What can the Medi-Nurse line help me with?
The Medi-Nurse line can:
- Help you understand whether your symptoms might be COVID-19 related, and whether you need to self-isolate and employ home self-care techniques, or whether your individual symptoms mean you should see a health care provider to get COVID-19 testing and/or treatment.
- Provide you with information in your area, such as contact information for county offices or other county-level resources near you, particularly if you need to see a doctor for testing, treatment, or vaccines, or if you want to apply for health insurance.
California has made medically necessary COVID-19 testing and vaccines FREE, even for people who do not have insurance, regardless of immigration status.
