CEA Examinations

Career Executive Assignment (CEA) category encompasses a broad range of high administrative and policy-influencing positions in a variety of organizational settings.  Positions in this category are responsible for managing a major program and/or providing program policy advice to the highest levels of administrative authority.  They have significant responsibility for policy evolvement and implementation and are found only in the highest managerial and administrative levels in State Government.

Within the broad category, there are five levels of management responsibility.  All positions having a substantially similar level of responsibility are assigned to the same levels.

Examinations for appointment to CEA positions are competitive and of such a character as fairly to test and determine the qualifications of candidates actually to perform the duties of the position to be filled.  Applicants who are successful in the examination and can be considered for employment to the CEA position are ranked on an eligible list.  CEA eligible lists are posted for 60 days following completion of the examination.

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications as stated on the exam announcement to compete in the CEA examination.  Applicants not meeting minimum qualifications will not be admitted to the examination.
