About ICD-10
ICD-10 Compliance Date: October 1, 2015
The Department of Health Care Services released the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision (ICD-10) list of included procedural and diagnosis crosswalk documents for Specialty Mental Health Services (SMHS). All identified ICD-code sets were created to assist stakeholders with system upgrades and business processes for the implementation of Short-Doyle/Medi-Cal (SD/MC) II claims with the date of service (DOS) beginning on October 1, 2015. In regards to the 837I, the control date in SD/MC II system is the Statement Thru Date. Any service with a Statement Thru Date before October 1, 2015, will require an ICD-9 diagnosis. Any service with a Statement Thru Date on or after October 1, 2015, will require an ICD-10 diagnosis.
