FAQs
My child needs a bone conduction hearing device (BCHD). Are these covered?
Surface-worn BCHDs are covered when medically necessary. BCHDs require TAR approval.
Do parents need to pay out of pocket for HACCP-covered services?
No, providers bill HACCP directly for covered benefits, just like they do for Medi-Cal/CCS.
Once my child is enrolled, does HACCP cover everything?
What if my child’s health insurance covers some of the same hearing aid-related benefits? HACCP does not cover benefits that are already included in your child’s other health coverage. Your child’s medical provider(s) will need to bill your child’s primary insurance policy for any benefits that policy covers, and will follow that insurance policy’s rules regarding copay, deductible, prior authorization, etc.
Does HACCP send my child’s hearing aids to us directly?
No, HACCP reimburses licensed medical providers, such as pediatric audiologists, for dispensing hearing aids to enrolled children.
