New DHCS Brand and Logos

Dear Stakeholders,

As you may know, the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has been working to implement several initiatives to transform Medi-Cal and improve the state's Medi-Cal program—most notably CalAIM. These historic changes are already making a difference in the lives of Medi-Cal members. With new and improved services, this major transformation will provide Medi-Cal members with access to well-rounded care that goes beyond the doctor's office or hospital and addresses their physical and emotional needs.

The Medi-Cal transformation aims to create a more coordinated, person-centered, and equitable health system that works for everyone, inclusive of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, language, immigration status, where you live or your health needs. Over time, new programs and services available will help members address unmet basic needs that can impact their health, including access to housing supports and healthy meals, and provide those with long-term needs better integrated and coordinated care. Medi-Cal's improved care management will ensure that no matter where members seek care – at the doctor or the dentist, with a social worker, or at a community center or school – they'll be connected to the quality care they need.

To better symbolize this important time, we are refreshing the DHCS brand and introducing a new brand for our programs, including Medi-Cal. These new logos and updated visual identities will help communicate DHCS' commitment to providing equitable access to high-quality health care for all Californians while also aligning with imagery on the Medi-Cal Benefits Identification Card (BIC) carried by all members, which prominently displays the California poppy. The design also builds upon the recognition and goodwill of the CalHOPE poppy logo, promoting consistency, recognition, and enhanced visibility. The center of the poppy is a guiding star, marking the path toward hope and a healthier California for all, while the petals symbolize the strength and unity of our programs and initiatives working together to achieve shared goals.

Throughout the year, you will see visual changes across our materials, website, signage, and more.
