Disaster Section 1115 Demonstration Waiver - Continuous Coverage for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) during COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE)

On July 19, 2022, CMS confirmed the receipt of California’s Disaster Section 1115 demonstration waiver submission, which enables the state to claim federal financial participation for CHIP beneficiaries who were retained in coverage from March 8, 2020, through the end of the COVID-19 PHE unwinding period. DHCS will continue to work with CMS in the upcoming weeks to complete the federal review of this request.
