Section 1115 Demonstration Waiver – Continuous Coverage for the Children’s
Health Insurance Program during COVID-19 Public Health Emergency item from
the July 22, 2022, DHCS Stakeholder News email. DHCS did receive a notice of
completion from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), but has
not yet received full approval. The corrected item is below.
Disaster
Section 1115 Demonstration Waiver - Continuous Coverage for the Children’s
Health Insurance Program (CHIP) during COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE)
On
July 19, 2022, CMS confirmed the receipt of California’s Disaster Section 1115
demonstration waiver submission, which enables the state to claim federal
financial participation for CHIP beneficiaries who were retained in coverage
from March 8, 2020, through the end of the COVID-19 PHE unwinding period. DHCS
will continue to work with CMS in the upcoming weeks to complete the federal
review of this request.
