CHIP Pending State Plan Amendments
The following are links to California's Children's Heath Insurance Program (CHIP) State Plan Amendments (SPAs) that were submitted to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). These SPAs were submitted to CMS for review and are currently pending approval. The final versions may be subject to significant change.
2022 CHIP SPAs
22-0031 Proposes to implement the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 by expanding the postpartum care period from 60 days to 1 year of coverage.
22-0033 Proposes mandatory coverage for vaccines and treatment of COVID-19.
22-0035 Proposes to include provisions which can be implemented during future state or federally-declared disasters by notifying CMS of the effective dates of the provisions and areas impacted by the disaster.
22-0041 Proposes to reduce the imposed premiums on the County Children's Health Initiative Program (CCHIP), Medi-Cal Access Infant's Program (MCAIP), and the Medi-Cal Access Program (MCAP) groups to $0.
2020 CHIP SPAs
20-0034 Demonstrates compliance with the SUPPORT Act as it relates to California’s SCHIP program.
2018 CHIP SPAs
18-0026 Demonstrates DHCS' compliance with 42 CFR 457.496, the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA) final rule as it related to CHIP.
